Join us on April 6 at 11 am at the Varner-Hogg Plantation for the first installment of our historical drink series, Roots of Refreshment. The first program will be about the history of ginger beer and its connection to the site. Ginger beer bottle fragments have been recovered from the Varner-Hogg Plantation, and sugar from the plantation could have been used in the making of this drink.

Participants came help prepare and make the various recipes of ginger beer and enjoy a sip of their creation. For more information, email varner-hogg@thc.texas.gov or call (979) 345-4656.
