Dr. Amy Porter, associate professor of history at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, will provide an overview of her recently published book that examines women’s roles in their families and communities in the borderland settlements of San Antonio, Santa Fe, El Paso, Saltillo, and San Esteban de Nueva Tlaxcala. Using wills as her primary documents, Dr. Porter delves into women’s spiritual, economic, material, and family experiences and examines the power that women exercised in these areas of their lives.
