We're celebrating Stephen F. Austin, the Father of Texas, and the 60th anniversary of the Texas Historical Commission on Saturday, Nov. 2nd!
Come out and take part in hands-on activities related to archeology, colonial printing, historic surveying, the land office, colonial games, and Jacob's Ladder storytelling.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. with the Boy Scouts flag raising ceremony, followed by a black powder 21 gun salute to Austin and Sam Houston. Historic flags will be displayed until noon, and we will provide Walk 'n Talk tours of the site throughout the day.
In partnership with the historic San Felipe United Methodist Church (across the street from the historic site), at 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary we will present a 30 minute update on the San Felipe de Austin Museum Project.
At 3 p.m., enjoy the refreshments offered at the cake cutting ceremony in front of the Austin statue.
See you on Saturday!
