Exhibit Opening at the Sam Rayburn House Museum

The Sam Rayburn House Museum, the home of former Congressman and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Sam Rayburn will open a new exhibit on Saturday, April 27, 2013. The new exhibit, “Through the Years: Milestones in Preservation at the Sam Rayburn House Museum” features architectural highlights during the life of the home. The exhibit, illustrated with photos and artifacts, details four major events at Rayburn’s home; initial construction in 1916, restoration in preparation for opening as a museum in 1975, an electrical fire and subsequent restoration in 1997-1998, and the recent 2011-2012 exterior restoration. 

The exhibit opening on April 27 will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Enjoy free admission, refreshments, themed tours, a special exterior tour and activities for kids.
