Jeff Davis County Courthouse

The 1910 Classical Revival courthouse with a Beaux-Arts clock tower is unique for its early use of concrete combined with native stone in its construction.

The architectural firm of L.L.Thurmon & Company of Dallas designed the building, in addition to other county courthouses in West Texas.

Interior work included upgrades to electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems, and accessibility improvements such as the installation of an elevator. Restoration of unique faux wood and metal ceiling finishes, and the district courtroom original furnishings was included, along with the reconstruction of the 1910 balcony.

A new metal shingle roof, sheet metal repairs to cornices and and the clock tower, and repairs to windows, doors and masonry completed the project's exterior work.

Work began in early 2002 and was finished in September 2003.
