The Texas Historical Commission (THC) respects your privacy. This policy addresses the collection and use of information that may be obtained by browsing THC websites.

All information collected or maintained by THC is subject to the provisions of the Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 552. The email addresses of most members of the public who communicate with state agencies through the Internet is confidential under Texas law. THC uses cookies to gather statistical information and to support web-based forms. The online Texas Historic Sites Atlas, which is a separate database, may also use cookies during some search requests to track user sessions and to provide an appropriate response. The information is discarded after every session.

Statistical Information

For site management functions, all site usage analytics are collected for analysis and statistical purposes. This information is not reported or used in any manner that would reveal personally identifiable information, and will not be released to any outside parties unless legally required to do so under applicable law.

THC services that may include sensitive information are available only to authorized users, and require the users to log on. This data is logged and retained for security analysis, but will not be shared with other agencies except as required by law.

If you send us an email message with a question or comment that contains personally identifiable information, we will only use the information to respond to your request and analyze trends.

THC does not sell email addresses.

The personal information you provide for THC information, services, or publication requests may be used to send you updates pertaining to your request. Email information may also be used to provide occasional agency news or updates on agency services, events, or publications.
