San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site can offer your Pack, Den, or Troop a variety of ways to fulfill requirements, elective adventures, or weekend badge workshops by visiting the museum.

Cub Scout Programs

1 hour program offered on weekends for all Cub Scout levels to earn the Cub Scout Texas badge (See Requirements). The cost is $2/scout for the program, with the option to tour the museum afterwards at discounted admission prices.

Webelos/AOL - Adventures in Science (Elective Adventure)
Requirement #2. Visit a museum, a college, a laboratory, an observatory, a zoo, an aquarium, or other facility that employs scientists. Prepare three questions ahead of time, and talk to a scientist about his or her work. (San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site employs an archeologist and a collections manager, both of whom have strong science backgrounds).

Get ready to explore the outdoors and use what you see and hear to make different kinds of art projects in this fast-paced badge workshop. 

Program length: 1 hour

Brownie - Bugs
Draw a bug poster, try a bug craft, identify some of the bugs near the museum, make a model of a bug house, and take a short bug hike on our interpretive trails!

Brownie - Letterboxer
Learn about letterboxing, make your own stamp, follow clues to find a real letterbox, and create your own letterbox for another group to find!

Junior - Playing the Past
Research some of the women who lived in Austin’s colony, learn about clothing from the 1820s and 1830s, try your hand at pioneer chores and crafts, and play with some of our historic toys. Present what you’ve learned through a skit at the end of the program.

Cost: $10/girl, minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 10

Cadette Girl Scout Programs at San Felipe
Cadette - Book Artist
Did you know that San Felipe de Austin was home to one of the earliest printing presses in Texas? Learn about printing and book binding, and try your hand at making several of your own paper creations. 

Program length: 2.5 hours 
Cost: $15/girl, minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 10
