INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION: In-depth research on forty communities across Texas for the historic resources listed in African-American travel guides (Green Book, Bronze American Guide, etc.) during the modern Jim Crow era. Research to look for any articles, city directories, postcards, photographs, advertisements, Sanborn maps, etc. in order to create a visually interesting poster for each community. Data entry into Excel spreadsheet for listed resources in order to compile information for a future interactive online map to educate the public about this overlooked part of American history.
Complies with all agency Internship Program policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Online historical research skills, Microsoft Excel and graphic design for creating digital posters.
Applications will be accepted from currently-enrolled undergraduate or graduate students. Recent graduates (within one year of graduation) will also be considered.
Coursework in History, Library Sciences, Preservation, Architectural History. Applicants should have knowledge of Texas history and geography, and should be skilled in a variety of computer programs and systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Access and Word is preferred.
