St. Mary’s University history department will hold a brief ceremony on November 11th, 2018 from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM. The ceremony we opens with a prayer and honors the memory of those who served in WWI, with special emphasis on the 5,000+ Texans who died during their service in the Great War. General Valenzuela will be represented by his granddaughter. We conclude by joining the worldwide "Bells of Peace" initiative by tolling the bells of St. Mary's on this 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice to "end all wars" on the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
The event is open to the public, free of charge, and wheelchair accessible. The ceremony takes place outdoors around the Bell Tower. The nearest parking lot is Lot V on Camino Santa Maria St. Students will escort guests to the bell tower.
