INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION:
Interns may work on one or more of the following projects: packing and storing artifacts; cataloging and researching the museum collection; taking digital photographs of artifacts; re-housing and cleaning artifacts; data entry of collection records; developing themed exhibits; and organizing site resources.
Complies with all agency Internship Program policies and procedures.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Clean, pack, and store artifacts; cataloging and researching collections; data entry of catalog records into collections database; development of educational materials; development of a themed exhibit (in-house or social media); and creation of social media posts regarding projects.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Applications will be accepted from currently enrolled college students who are sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students and recent Bachelor's or Master's degree graduates. Degree or expected degree in anthropology, archeology, archival/library studies, art, art history, education, history, museum studies, political science, social studies, sociology, or related field. Demonstrated interest in museum programs, education, and/or history.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Interest in museums, history, and/or education; strong writing, research, and communication skills; strong organizational, multitasking, and people skills; knowledge of standard office computer skills, including database software and word processing; ability to work independently and on detailed tasks.
