This set of photos was taken for our Fall 2013 Medallion cover feature, which highlights historic breweries in the Texas Independence Trail Region. The article, “Brewing Heritage: Texas' German Immigrants Hoisted History with Old World Traditions,” focuses on the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner; Western Brewery (at the Menger Hotel), Pearl Brewery, and Lone Star Brewery in San Antonio; and Kreische Brewery (now part of Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Site) in La Grange. This “Web extra” set features photos that were not included in the print version.
