Archeology Lab Technician (Archeologist I)

JOB OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the site archeologist, this position will provide general support for the public archeology program at Levi Jordan Plantation State Historic Site of the Texas Historical Commission (THC). Duties include performing basic archeological laboratory tasks, including cataloging and inventorying, analysis, working in recordkeeping systems used to manage collections and archeological data, and assisting with the preparation and execution of archeological fieldwork. Other duties may include assisting in the exhibition of collections and related materials, working with other staff to coordinate with volunteers and interns, and the routine operations of the facilities, as assigned. This position will additionally act as a frontline customer service position at the historic site and must maintain positive relationships with the community and visitors. Work under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
