Local Government Preservation Specialist (Program Specialist III)

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Local Government Preservation Specialist is responsible for assisting with the review, administration, coordination, and implementation of the Certified Local Government (CLG) program by providing consultative and technical assistance, public education and outreach to local governments and historic preservation commissions. Under the leadership of the CLG Coordinator, the Local Government Preservation Specialist is responsible for assisting with administration of all program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and the evaluation of program activities in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code and in compliance with the National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund Grants Manual. The Specialist gives public presentations, lectures and workshops and develops print and online educational materials. Work with general supervision and moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Frequent travel required, averaging two nights per month with some ability to control the scheduling of required travel. Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
