Programs Specialist, Community Heritage Development (Program Specialist I)

JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide administrative and program support for the division director, team leads, and projects of the Community Heritage Development Division. Successful candidates will cross-train to serve as a temporary backup and ensure critical administrative functions continue during any short-term absence of the office manager. May assist in the intake, processing, and tracking of Texas Treasure Business Award nominations and provide an initial public interface for the awards. Assist the event planner with communications, registration, and administrative tasks for the Real Places Conference and other events. Take notes or transcribe recordings to produce meeting minutes for significant division or program meetings. Provide communications, tracking, and program support for Main Street, Heritage Tourism, and Certified Local Government programs. Work involves assisting with planning, developing, and implementing agency programs and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the public. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
