Distinguished Service Awards--2017

Congratulations to all of our award-winning County Historical Commissions!

Distinguished Service Awards (DSA) are presented by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) based on documentation provided through County Historical Commission (CHC) annual reports. The DSA award criteria, published on the THC website (located here), are applied to the reporting information. CHCs who document work that satisfies the criteria are given the DSA award.

DSA winners partner effectively, taking time to work with community organizations and individuals in constructive ways. These efforts leave positive impressions with citizens and visitors, while promoting history and preservation! Comal CHC appointees are known for establishing productive relationships with county and city officials, as well as, the public.

  • Aransas CHC is a smaller CHC but produces major impacts through projects and partnerships. For example, appointees provided narratives and costumed docents for historical stops on the Stroll Thru Rockport, a wellness walk initiated by Healthy South Texas within AgriLife and supported by community partners.
