100 Years / 100 Schools Initiative - Veterans Day 2018

Materials from the World War I Centennial

November 11, 2018, marked the 100th anniversary of the great armistice that silenced the guns of World War I.

To honor that historic event, the Texas World War I Centennial Commemoration Association (TXWWICCA), Texas State Historical Association (TSHA), and the Texas Historical Commission (THC) are asking educators to tell us about the World War I programming they incorporated into their school's Veterans Day events.

The first one hundred schools to share details and a photograph of their event with us will receive a 100 Years/100 Schools WWI Centennial Packet consisting of:

  • a formal participation certificate endorsed by state and national organizations
  • official state of Texas WWI centennial commemorative coins
  • special WWI editions of THC's Medallion magazine commemorating the centennials of America's entry into the war and Armistice Day
  • educational materials and the chance to win a grand prize

Please upload information about your school and event below. To be eligible for the grand prize drawing your submission must be uploaded by Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
