Guided Group Tours

Here at San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site, we can provide guided tours for groups of 10 or more adults by advanced registration during our normal operating hours. Our museum is open from 9am to 5pm, Wednesday through Sunday. Requests for guided group tours on Mondays or Tuesdays can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance to schedule a guided group tour.

Our guided group tours cost $10 per adult and include a knowledgeable staff member guiding guests through our indoor museum gallery and our outdoor exhibit, our Villa de Austin. Tours last approximately 90 minutes and can include time in our museum store. During a tour, group members will learn important information in our indoor permanent exhibit about the founding of the town of San Felipe de Austin, Stephen F. Austin's involvement in founding and presiding over the town, the town's connection to the larger story of Texas Independence, and the eventual destruction of the town in March 1836. Once outdoors in our Villa de Austin, guests are able to see reconstructed buildings based off of those in the town 200 years ago. They include an operational print shop, hotel with brick cellar, one-room schoolhouse, courthouse, small family home, and home and kitchen of an enslaved woman. The staff member leading the tour will explain vital information about each of these buildings or businesses, including the people behind the operations living and working in the town.

Guided group tours can also include a provided box lunch or catering before or after the tour for an additional fee and a two-week advance notice.
