Scout Programs

A historical reenactor in 1800s period clothing speaks to a young boy in a Boy Scout uniform.San Jacinto is a great place for cub scouts and girls scouts to earn badges. We offer scout programs designed especially for the Cub Scout Texas Badge and the Girl Scout Playing the Past Badge.

Texas Badge (Cub): Where better to earn the Texas Badge than the home of Texas’s independence?! This program teaches Cub Scouts about our great state’s history and culture, including the first Texans, Battle of San Jacinto, and important Texas symbols. The program takes an hour and costs $10/scout, which includes activity and admission to the San Jacinto Museum.

Playing the Past Badge (Junior): Step into the past at San Jacinto! The Playing the Past program gives Girl Scouts the opportunity to experience life during the Texas Revolution by learning about local women, making their own 1830s accessories, participating in daily activities from the frontier and playing traditional games. The program takes an hour and a half and costs $10/scout, which includes activity and admission to the San Jacinto Museum.

Guided Battlefield Hike: Walk in the footsteps of history on a guided hike of the San Jacinto Battleground! One of our site educators will lead your scout group on a guided walk to the significant spots on the battlefield. The program takes 2 to 2.5 hours and costs $50 for the group. It does not include admission to the San Jacinto Museum.

Programs depend on staff availability and are not offered for drop-in groups. You must make a reservation at least a week in advance.
