Fort McKavett  Texas  76841

In 1877 a telegraph line was constructed at Fort McKavett, connecting Army forts across miles of West Texas frontier. How does a telegraph work? Come out to the post headquarters to watch soldiers operate a working telegraph! The headquarters building will be active with soldiers working to make the fort run efficiently in the same way they did 145 years ago.  For more information, contact Rhett Kearns at Rhett.Kearns@thc.texas.gov or at 325-396-2358.
