Landmark Inn State Historic Site

Join the Landmark Players, under the direction of Lauren Biediger, as they present a Reader's Theater performance of baseball poetry. Reader’s Theater in the past was home entertainment known as “Tableaux.” A designated narrator reads from a script and the actors demonstrate actions as best they can mentioned, along with audience participation. Baseball is often described in poetic terms, so it is no wonder that baseball poems are among the most fondly remembered and recited. Hear about Kitty Kelly, Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, Frank Chance, and of course the Mighty Casey. Special Bonus: a sonnet composed by Castroville Poet Laureate Kent Keeton is included along with music from a brass band. The presentation includes local history, including the famous Highway 90 League.
