Birding 101

May 5 2018 - 8:30am to 11:30am

1649 State Hwy 21 W
ALTO, TX 75925

Caddo Mounds State Historic Site invites the public to an early Saturday morning Bird Watching program. Bird watching, aka “Birding”, is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the nation and Caddo Mounds will be hosting both a classroom session and walk around its wooded and wet land areas. Come join us; spring is the best time for hearing bird song and seeing a bird’s colorful plumage. Dr. Brent Burt, Professor of Biology, Stephen F. Austin State University will host the program.

East Texas, with 353 species, is a great place to bird due to the diversity of habitats in the region. Dr. Brent Burt, Professor of Biology at SFASU, will present a brief presentation on the basics of bird identification and then lead a birding foray into the diversity of habitats represented at Caddo Mounds. We expect to see and hear 30-plus species. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars (if you have them), sunscreen and insect spray.

There is a $4 charge for the program.
Seating is limited, so please call if interested in attending.
