You’re invited to a special event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail and the launch of THC’s new mobile app tour, The Chisholm Trail: Exploring the Folklore and Legacy.
Join Texas cowboys, including world-famous trick roper Kevin Fitzpatrick, vaqueros, and musicians (cowboy singer-songwriters K.R. Wood and Sue Young) on the southwest lawn of the Capitol grounds to celebrate the Chisholm Trail’s Lone Star legacy. Also be sure to check out the giveaways and chuck wagons, featuring chili, beans, biscuits, cracknells, prairie rocks, Indian cornmeal cake, peach cobbler, and cookies. Food and entertainment are generously provided by the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission and Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum of Cuero. A limited amount of food is available, so it’s first-come, first-served.
Just in time for the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail, the THC’s newest mobile app tour details historic and cultural sites related to the cattle industry in Texas, while explaining the trail’s lore through a rich blend of images, videos, maps, and visitor information.
Hit the trail from your hometown to join the THC, Friends of the THC, Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, Vaqueros of South Texas, Cowboys of Color Rodeo, Williamson Museum of Georgetown, and other supporters as we celebrate this significant cultural milestone at the Texas State Capitol.
