Magoffin Home State Historic Site - Grounds

Come join the staff of the Magoffin Home as we explore El Paso’s culinary offerings and follow 19th Century recipes to recreate dishes from the turn of the century. In 1898, The El Paso Cookbook was published by the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Y.W.C.A. containing recipes submitted by locals, including Octavia Magoffin! Now, it is a snap shot of cooking in the region in terms of preferred food, food production and cooking technology.
May’s class will prepare Pineapple Sherbert from a recipe submitted by Mrs. C.C. Keifer. All participants will help in the dish preparation, will sample it at the end and take home a copy of the recipe.
This is the only class in the series that will be free of charge.
