Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site
Deck the halls with festive cheer with the Sam Rayburn House’s December Hands on History! Join us from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 9th to learn how to turn basic paper, glue, and string into creative holiday ornaments! The Hands on History program is come and go and does not require reservations. However, if you have questions or want to bring a large group, call 903.583.5558. The crafting program is free and house tours will be available at our regular admission rates.
The Sam Rayburn House will remain decorated for the holiday throughout the month of December, with self-guided Christmas themed tours all month long. The site is open Tuesday through Saturday, with tours at 10 and 11 a.m., and 12, 1, 2, and 3 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors, veterans, and students. Special family rates are available at $8 for a family of 3, and $1 for each additional child.
The Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site tells the real story of Sam Rayburn, one of the most powerful and influential politicians of the 20th century, in his authentic 1916 home. Preserved as a period time capsule, the two-story home contains all original Rayburn family furnishings and housewares.
