Magoffin Home SHS Grounds and in the Visitor Center
Join us for a day long celebration of everything autumn! From the history of agriculture and harvests to food and crafts, every hour offers a new opportunity to explore the bounty of harvest wonders in El Paso. There will a grounds tour every hour where we will discuss the Magoffin fruit orchards, irrigation, and how the railroads affected land use. At designated times, we offer free lessons on how to make corn tortillas, corn husk dolls, cornicorpias or horns-of-plenty, and leaf art. TechH2O will join us as a special guest at noon to talk about El Paso's history with water and how we may best conserve this precious resource. There will also be a special cooking class offered for how to make an historic chicken tamales recipe for a fee of $5 per person. Whether you love the fall or are just trying to understand the people in your life who do, we have a full day planned for learning about why autumn deserves some love. All events are free of charge, except for the cooking class and tours of the interior of the Home.
