Our April Topic:
What Nature Has Provided
Wednesday, March 24, 2021
7 p.m., via Zoom

The modern concept of environmental wellness promotes having good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments – both natural and built – that support individual and community well-being.  The swimming hole at Varner-Hogg Plantation that was created by Gov. James Hogg for his children will be our starting point for an exploration of the natural environment of the plantation and stories of environmental wellness found in its history. We will begin with that most basic and essential natural resource – water – and go on to discover how the abundance of flora, fauna and other natural resources found on the plantation have provided for the physical, financial, and mental well-being of the families who have lived, worked and built community here.
