We are making changes to our annual Homeschool Days Program!
Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is presenting our homeschool families with one day jam-packed with historical demonstrations unlike other school programming. This fall’s themed day will be “Life During the Republic,” and will feature ongoing special programming throughout the day. Staff at Barrington Plantation, the Star of the Republic Museum, and Independence Hall will bring you close encounters with livestock, artifacts, and everyday life of Texans during the Republic Era. Tour the site at YOUR pace with your family plus there will be opportunities to walk the trails and relax at the picnic area under the shady pecan trees during lunch so bring your coolers! We will also have an onsite food vendor, The Grill Sergeant, with hot options available.
Activities include:
- Stagecoach components and travel
- Black powder weapon demonstrations
- 19th century tin casting
- Native American and Pioneer life
- Cotton picking (weather permitting)
- Banjo playing at the quarters
- Medicine of the Republic
- Hearth cooking
- Parlor Life: Food, Drink and Games
Reservations are not required and general admissions fees apply.
