Please mark your calendar to attend the THC marker dedication ceremony for “Sam Houston’s First Home in Texas” at 11 am on March 2, 2015 in front of City Hall (Gladys Hampton Building, 202 E. Pilar Street, Nacogdoches). It will be a part of the kickoff of Texas History Month, and will follow the Daughters of the Republic of Texas’ bell ringing at the Old University Building being held at 10 a.m. Most importantly it marks General Sam Houston’s birthday and Texas Independence Day. Honor Guard will be The Texas Army. The ceremony is sponsored by the Nacogdoches County Historical Commission and Milam Masonic Lodge No. 2 A.F. & A. M.
