Star gazing at Mission Dolores

Join us on Saturday, October 8th at Mission Dolores State

Historic Site as we Reach for the Stars through Native American storytelling and telescope viewing of the moon and stars!

Ms. Audricka Young, Education Director for the Natchitoches Tribe of Louisiana will begin our evening around a camp fire at

6 pm with star stories from her tribe as well as other Native American tribes.

At 7 pm, members of The Astronomical Society of East Texas (ASET) will be on hand to discuss what we are seeing in the night sky and assist visitors with observing the moon and any planets or stars in our viewing area.  ASET will have telescopes available.

In case of rain, Ms. Young will still do her star story presentation and answer questions in the site’s meeting room from 6-7 pm.  The star viewing will be rescheduled for a later date.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and flashlights, use bug spray and dress for the weather.  No open containers.
