Stephen F. Austin State Park Nature Center (located 1 mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site)

Join us at 10am in the Nature Center at Stephen F. Austin State Park (located 1 mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site) for a program about the transfer of political power that occurred in Texas' early history. San Felipe de Austin served as a de facto capital of Texas for Anglo settlement while a part of Mexico. As the war with Mexico progressed, political power transferred to the town of Washington-on-the-Brazos, where the Texians declared independence from Mexico in 1836.
Admission to Stephen F. Austin State Park required. Texas State Parks Pass holders free of charge!
Second Saturdays with Steve are monthly programs presented by the staff of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site in collaboration with the Stephen F. Austin State Park.
