Fort McKavett State Historic Site

Description: Overshirts, Undershirts, Battleshirts, OH MY! This program will be a workshop event that will teach reenactors to make their own handmade shirts to go with any impression! Linen and cotton undershirts made on the square were very common from the early 1800's through the 1860's and 70's. Overshirts and fancier "battleshirts" were also very common outerwear for soldiers during the Civil War and while on patrol during frontier service. Site Staff will be on hand to help participants craft their own shirts and piece them together. For more information or to RSVP as a participant in the workshop, please email Kevin.Malcolm@thc.texas.gov.
