Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site
The Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site is participating in the Red River Valley Tourism Association's Stroll n Roll again this year on Saturday, September 9th. Tours of the Maxey House will be offered FREE of charge during the event. Tours start every half hour beginning at 9:00 am with the last tour being offered at 4:30 pm.
Along with free tours, visitors to the site will be able to participate in activities on the lawn as they learn about customs and games from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Visitors can also visit the Lamar County Historical Museum, the Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center, and the Lamar County Genealogical Society Library for free on the same day. It is an exciting opportunity for citizens to explore the area's local history. The Lamar County Historical Museum is located at 1015 West Kaufman Street, the Valley of the Caddo Museum and Cultural Center is located at 1115 Bonham Street and the Lamar County Genealogical Society Library is located at 1135 Bonham Street.
