Now Accepting Submissions: Then & Now

A black and white photo of the white columns of the French Legation building with tree branches in the foreground.We are excited to announce the French Legation State Historic Site’s inaugural art exhibition Then & Now. Community members and artists alike are invited to share their photos old and new and other artistic impressions of the area, particularly East Austin and Robertson Hill. Art and/or images will be selected for inclusion in an exhibition on view within the historic French Legation house.

The purpose of Then & Now is to showcase the changing landscape of Austin and Texas in a historical setting that has witnessed many changes. As the oldest recorded residence in Austin, the French Legation has been part of Texas history since 1841. The French Legation and Then & Now will bring Texas history alive, providing the public a tangible experience of history through place.

Artist selected for inclusion in the exhibition will be contacted for more information about their contribution. Selections will be shown onsite and online in a dedicated web gallery.

Deadline for Submission: September 30, 2022

Exhibition Dates: October 1, 2022 – March 31, 2022

Submission Guidelines: Submission forms and high-resolution images should be uploaded to the online form by clicking the "Click Here To Submit" button (images should be titled with the contributor’s name and image title). Please mail questions to frenchlegation@thc.texas.gov.
