State Board of Review Meeting

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) are monitoring the new coronavirus disease (COVID 19) that is causing an outbreak of respiratory illness worldwide. The Austin office of the Texas Historical Commission has closed to the public until further notice. Most employees are working from home, and we will ensure that our normal workflow continues.

In light of these events, the next State Board of Review meeting will be held online at the same date and time previously posted:

May 16, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.

The public meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act on the Zoom meeting platform, and will be accessible online through web browsers, toll-free by telephone, and through the Zoom app on computers and handheld devices. The THC will post additional guidance for viewing and participating in the meeting on this page, and will provide updates as necessary.

The State Board of Review meets three times each year to advise the State Historic Preservation Officer regarding National Register nominations. This review is required by federal law and provides an opportunity for public comment. These dates for upcoming SBR meetings, and their corresponding deadlines for final draft nominations (previously reviewed by THC staff), will allow applicants to plan accordingly. In our effort to be fair to all applicants, THC staff cannot set aside one nomination to work on another that has arrived after the stated deadline. Please see the "National Register Process in Texas" for additional information.
